No, not marine engineering shipping. My post was confusing.
I worked for a company servicing the construction industry. The construction downturn obviously had a follow on affect with us and our clients with mass redundancies announced.

Id get out of there as soon as you can (as if you didnt know Id say that). You will look back on this as a blessing within a month of being out of there.
Where is home? For all the doom and gloom around the UK and USA they are doing alot better than Dubai in all this. People trapped in Dubai like to pretend otherwise as so little is recorded or reported there unlike in the west.
I think you will find the transparency alone back home to be liberating.

have you been to the US and UK in the last few months?
Take it from someone who has spent time in both, there is little that is 'liberating' about either place at the moment, both economies are still trying to squeeze the fewer tax payers for as much as they are worth..
