Re: HSBC
Personally, once a maximum daily transfer limit was set, I have experienced no problems transferring dosh on-line from my HSBC bank here to HSBC International in Jersey. What did annoy me recently was the rejection of an NBD salary cheque last month because the date "looked altered". They said it was NBD who actually rejected the cheque, not HSBC but, whoever did the rejecting, it was complete balls because the cheque was eventually returned with no alteration evident. Methinks that NBD and HSBC don't get along.

Re: HSBC
Hi Peeps I'm new on the forum but been here in Dubai since September. I'm about to open a bank account here and would be grateful for any recommendations and advice on account type and charges. I'll be looking to transfer monthly from a Royal Bank of Scotland account in the UK does anyone have any experience of this?

And then open a local account to transfer living expenses..
Incidently, you have been here for 7 months without a bank account??

I'll look into the offshore thing. Yes I've been here working as a consultant and get paid in the Uk so I've been relying on the ATM and internet banking but I'm getting around to sorting myself out. I have a long history of having bank accounts in really inconvenient places and wanted to avoid it - also I'm dead lazy when it comes to this sort of thing. BTW love your smokies

Also we have HSBC a/cs and havent had any probs with them at all. Yes no debit card available but we just use credit cards for everything and have them automatically cleared at the end of each month - theoretically same as a debit card as long as you don't go checking your on-line balance and think its looking healthy

What a smalltime event organizer from the UK thinks will not change the mindset of people in the ME...
