How to know if there is a flag against you?

How to know if there is a flag against you?
Is there any way of finding out if you are wanted by the UAE authorities for things like bounced cheques etc. before you fly out there?
I recently left Dubai and thought I'd cleared all my debts but I've been informed that one of my blank cheques that I'd left as a guarantee security has gone missing when I asked for it back.
Just in case it has been attempted to be drawn and bounced and the possibilty of a police case being filed, I wanted to check in advance.
Also, I'd be travelling from Muscat to Dubai via taxi and was wondering if the border checks are thorough (ie scanning of passports etc) and you can pass by quite easily or not.
I understand that this post may make me look dodgy but I assure you its not! (and another warning to others to also make sure you keep a track of your cheques in the UAE)

Re: How to know if there is a flag against you?
border checks at the Oman/UAE border near Hatta are almost non-existent... quick scan of the passport and a stamp.
In fact we used to park the car at the side and one person would take all the passports inside and come back 5 mins later with them all stamped... they didn't even insist on seeing the people in the car. Its been the same for 20 odd years.
If you go at the wrong time of day it can take ages though, so avoid late afternoon
