Holidays
So then guys who has been on any good holidays while based out in the middle east? Anybody got any recommended itineraries for a few weeks off? There must be some perks to being closer to east asia, india, oz etc.

I'm also interested in this post - currently living at the bottom of the world, anywhere is a trek .... am thinking that Greece and Cyprus must also be striking distance for a decent break?

Re: Holidays
Myself and my girlfriend (who is a Pakistani muslim) are looking to go somewhere that is fairly cheap (more for me than her, she earns twice what I do ), and obviously wouldn't have an issue with a unmarried couple, one of whom is muslim, sharing a room.
I was thinking of somewhere like Cyprus or Greece, but doesn't anyone else have any recommendations. We're both the type that would rather go an explore, take pictures etc than lie on the beach (which of course we could do here).
Flights ideally have to be under AED 3000.

Re: Holidays
We are the adventurous type, probably looking at bit of travel around east asia, maybe india.. Also I guess there is the times where we would just like a relaxing break a week in paradise somewhere.

Nepal...Use Hotel Vajra as a base in Katmandu. They will arrange everything depending on what you want to see and do in country, cool place nice people.

Chitwan National Park should not be missed. I capped off my Nepal adventure at Tiger Tops, awesome!

Re: Holidays
I've done the following;
Seyhelles- 4 hrs from Dubai- beautiful but expensive
Thailand- 6 hrs from Dubai- plus extra time to get away from Bangkok- cheap one your there- also amazing
Egypt- Cairo- think it was about 4 hrs- maybe 3- I had a greta time but not for everyone
Lebabnon-3 hours away- I was there for work and was only there for 28 hours but I'd go back for a long weekend
Hong Kong is awesome- about 7 hrs I think- just be careful when you go as the humidity is awful
Mainland China- Shanghai is an hour on form Hong Kong, I've not been to Beijing but am going to try to go on my next China trip.
Jordon- Petra- still on my list of things to see
You're also got the Maldives but again not cheap
Nepal is only a few hours away as well which is also on my list
India- not been again I want to go but too busy to go to the embassy for a visa
Other countries you could consider are Vietnam- its meant to be amazing but very poor, Philipines- all about 6-7 hours away
Also Sri Lanka, agaib menat to be beautiful but not been yet.
South Africa- slightly longer to get to, but still loser than when based in UK- but its stilll 8 hours or so to cape town I think- Im sure someone can clarify

Re: Holidays
First holiday I ever took from ME was in July 1988, from Doha to Bangkok. Little did I know then how often I would return to the Land of Smiles.

Nairobi - 4 hours. Although keep the windows on the taxi shut - last group from our place that went there had their iphones nicked when stopped at a junction.
