The new Fortuner is a tart up job only but I do like the big display on the new 4.0 I have driven
I think I may stick with my RAV as it has a fair bit of oomph and I do like to put my foor down. I don't need a bigger car. The only option in this case is the 2.7l and I can't be doing with lack of acceleration.

Thanks chaps

You are right, any reasonable motor should do 0-100 in less than 4 seconds. A necessity for school runs, shopping trips, work commute and setting good 1/4 mile times of the drag strip.

The Pajero has gone to the scrappers in the sky.

Bought for 50k, thrashed and offroaded for 2.5 years, scrapped for 25k. Not so bad. Including insurance and maintenance costs this worked out around 1200/month...I probably could have sold it pre-crash for about 30k.

Lesson - If you want a cheap motor get a SWB Pajero.

Crash aside you had almost 50% depreciation in 2.5 years? Seems high or was that due to the off roading?

Nah, it's because it's a SWB Pajero and they're almost as common as the LWB or an Explorer......

I insured it for 30k 9 months ago, they applied some depreciation to this initial agreed value. Hence 25k. Had I insured it for say 42k (market value of a clean replacement) then maybe I would have got more... but equally maybe it wouldn't have been written off.

It was never worth much - underside was trashed, rubber boots/ bump stops on the shocks pretty much destroyed. I cut 6 inches off the bumper for ground clearance, every panel was dented in one way or another (I had a cement lorry drive down the side of me and a taxi ran into the back side of me). The car was covered in fine by deep scratches where a construction site accidently sprayed concrete on it and I had it polish off.

It did have a new battery though.

I could have probably sold it for more ... but not much I suspect.
