Default Freezoone visas/changing jobs

Hi,

If you change jobs to a company based in a freezone and get a freezone visa, does this mean there are no visa bans enforced?

Also, anyone know where there are good listings of Freezone jobs?

Thanks.

I did consider not reply seeing as you are a Spurs fan!

As for the jobs, depends on what field you are in. There is not a particular agency that deals specifically with Freezone jobs.

Not too sure about the ban, but think you would be okay. Even if you do get a ban, you can pay to have it lifted. A friend of mine is moving from Dubai (works in Emirates Towers) to DIFC and if a ban is placed on her, the Ministry of Labour have advised her that she can pay 5,000 and have it lifted.

Thanks. Yes I imagine my Spurs status affects my volume of replies alot!

Okay, so you can pay to remove bans? It's a bit of a wad though eh.

Does this go for all types of visa changes i.e. even job changes between non-freezone companies. I've been with my employer less than 6 months but its a non-fixed term contract which I think helps in these matters?

If anyone has any other experience of this let me know. Even Spurs fans need advice sometimes!

Thanks!

I was told that it is immigration not the employer who inforces a ban if you have been in employment for less than 6 months. One thing to bear in mind whilst working in a freezone is that the gratuity you receive at end of service is not as good as that when working outside a freezone. Can't remember exact figures but we lost out big time after husband had been in freezone for 7 years.

Blue Cat is right - it is the Ministry of Labour that put the ban on.

I would suggest you call them to get further insight into your query as I not 100% certain and would hate to give you the wrong information. Tel: 04 266 8967.

A friend of mine is dealing with them at present and has found them very helpful.
