Default Fitness Clubs

Hello,

In a vague attempt to stem the Dubai spread - does anyone have health club remendations - this is for the area around Oud Metha / Wafi etc.

Pharaohs @ Wafi looks nice but not many classes...

Fitness First @ Burjuman - hear nasty things about fees etc?

Any others in this area?

What prices are Fitness First - good amount of classes?

Cheers,

Auto

I cant tell you about Pharoahs, I use Fitness First and love it. It has a good selection of classes and good selection of machines and weights.

If you accept that fitness first are like any other business in Dubai (customer service wise - afraid to say no, ignore an issue rather than communicate, etc, etc) then I think they're actually pretty good. The difference is the classes - find one you like and it is 100% easier than slogging on a treadmill - which are included at FF.
As for Burjuman, don't know the club itself but our one (Peoples Republic Of Mirdiff) was jammers for about 6 months after opening but is settled into a nice pattern now and is not too bad.
Go for a walk around and talk your way into a few classes as a trial. you will need to attend over 7 or 8 classes a month to get the best value out of FF (as compared to aviation club et al) - If your up for that then i say go for it.
Cheers,

Thanks for the below!

If you don't mind me asking - what are you paying for Mirdiff?

Wafi is close to home and any of the Fitness First will mean a drive of epic proportions between 7 and 9pm through the week...

Might still consider the Burjuman Fitness First though I guess...

Mirdiff is a FF plus (because of the pool) so at 375 AED per month I think it is a little more than you would pay for Burjuman.

I use Pharaoh's - mainly the o/side pool and bar though!!!!!! As you say not a huge selection of classes but the gym and instructors are pretty good and its never too busy - although I don't go in the evening so can't comment on that - also nice changing rooms which is always a big factor for me - can't stand dirty/smelly changing rooms
