Re: Expats leaving Dubai - Is it a bad dream
Meanwhile Atlantis is running at 15% occupancy! I stayed at the Ibis City Centre last week and it cost me Dhs350 per night all inclusive! 6 months ago the average price for a hotel room in Dubai was Dhs 2400 per night!

lol - actually was planning to quit at the end of this month as soon as my bonus was paid and start my new job on 1/6. However, was made redundant last week - so got the added bonus of a redundancy pay!
However, now plan to take a break and also thinking of leaving this industry altogether (also teaching ethics to bankers is a bloody tough job ).

A quick Google on Dubai hotel sites shows mid-May rates at Atlantis for Dhs1600, hyatt for Dhs 600 and JBH for Dhs1130!

I personally can't see the point in Dubai residents going for a weekend in a dubai hotel. Same same for AD residents. Its hardly a refreshing change of scenery..
Enlighten me on the benefits please someone?

well we went to JBH a couple of months ago for the weekend and it was fantastic, checked in on the Thursday afternoon and didn't see the car again until late Saturday. We went to the beach, the pool and wild wadi on day one, had dinner, a fab breakfast on the Friday, then back to Wild Wadi, hit the beach again, had a pizza by the pool, Mitten loved it, the room was fantastic as was the food, all in all I found it very relaxing and felt as though we had actually had a 'break' for the weekend, without having to leave the Country. Not everyone can afford to flit over to the UK for a week or two, we can't and we have to work a year before Atilla is entitled to airfares and with moving in the summer etc, we need to watch the dhms.

And trust me, fliting over to the UK twice a year is not a holiday....
