Individuals can use the site.
To upload the pic, the trick is to scan the pics at low resolution (they may come out greyish/blurred) but are acceptable for the site. Its the only way to ensure pic size (in terms of memory) is acceptable.
I have used this, and its is acceptable. The embassy is only interested in the enjaz number you obtain after registeration.
Your right the embassy is not helpful, really tries to push to use on the "approved agents". I did use one on Ablecan on one occasion. he was useful.

I tried to use the embassy site and could not get connected....
the (waste of time) embassy asked me to keep trying....
ended up using Ablecan Agent.. cost abit more... but my company reimbursed me the fee's ...
you can do it direct on the link you mention...if you keep trying... again...again..... you get the idea !
ps - think about the duration of the visa (30 days... / 180 days..) and multiple entry, incase you need to re-enter, so you can avoid applying for another visa ..

What I noticed is that the picture has to be exactly between 3 and 4 KB, no larger, no smaller. Otherwise, I kept getting the error whenever I tried to upload a picture. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else was getting frustrated with this online form!

Just play with different sizes and settings with Photo manager or Picassa and see how you go.

Taking a photo in Photoshop or other programs running under Windoze limits how low a resolution a photo can be reduced. You also need to take the color out of the picture too so it is black, white and mixture of grey scale.
Once the photo has been reduced to an arbitrary size it simply refuses to reduce the photo any further.
I found a stumbling block around 50Kb and Photoshop would simply not reduce the photo and further, other programs produced similar results.
Switching to Linux (any version, installed or live disc) the photo can be reduced to any size one wants using The Gimp, a standard default installation on all distributions of Linux.
The procedure I used was to open the photo in The Gimp (using Mandriva Linux but works the same under Ubuntu Live, Red Hat, PC Linux, Linux XP, etc)
Click on SAVE AS, and select JPEG.
When it asks for the percent quality, select 0%
Save the file to the Desktop.
Close The Gimp.
Right click on the file and select Properties and note the file size.
Say the files size is 50Kb; this needs to be reduced to between 3Kb and 5Kb to enable upload for the Saudi Visa.
Open with The Gimp.
Resave the file and when the dialogue box asks for the quality of the image to be saved, simply do a mental calculation which will give you 5Kb.
Save the file to the Desktop.
Close The Gimp.
Again right click on the saved file and note its file size, say the file size is 6Kb
Open the file in The Gimp.
Resave the file and this time save as say 90%
This should then give you a file size somewhere between 3 and 5Kb
If not repeat the process to get the file size to approximately 4Kb.
Note that if the file size is less than 3Kb or more than 5Kb it will not upload to the Saudi Visa application.
Additional note.
To those who are not familiar with Linux, The Gimp will also run under Windoze.
Use Google to search for The Gimp and select Windoze from the download menu system and save the file.
The visa officer at the consul was stunned to see me turn up the following day with my computer generated number in hand as a few days before I made a special visit and mentioned I wasn't successful with the system. They maintained it could be done and if I still had problems just go to a travel agent. As that was the only advice I had, I just felt I wasn't going to be outdone that easily for a mind over matter exercise!
As mentioned above by another forum member, the photo at between 3k - 5k is actually not even a photo but just shades of huge pixel blocks. the description of photo is a misnomer. It probably just functions as some sort of basic bar code for the application.
Can't quite understand why the system can't just take a normal passport jpeg photo and then convert it themselves though the system. it really was a gruelling technical decathlon with many hurdles and head scratching as how to comply with the basic requirements.

Hi
If you are having trouble uploading pics, check picture specs mentioned on top of the page (enjaz). Make sure you have left enabled active X controls too. I was struggling with uploading but finally cracked it.
I uploaded Color picture of 110X110 and the size was 3.96KB. To minimize the size of the picture, I tried uploading pic in greyscale but it wouldn't accpet it. Finally setting the size at 110X110 and resolution to min., it worked. Although it didn't show pic in the window. Therefore, as far as it doesn't give you an error on upload, go ahead and submit the form.
I used default Hp photosmart printer software to scan passport size photo and resize it to 110X110picture.
Hope it helps.

The above discussion has been helpful. May I summarize the steps that I followed to complete this ridiculous process
1. You need a PC running Windows. Don't even try it on Mac (I'm guessing you may be OK if running Parallels).
2. You need Internet Explorer. Anything else, e.g., Firefox, Safari..etc won't do the job as the web page requires ActiveX controls which is not supported by any other platform other than Internet Explorer on a Windows OS.
3. In internet Explorer, you need to ensure that ActiveX controls are enabled. Yellow bar will appear. Allow ActiveX by clicking on the bar.
4. Scan an image with white background. Save it on your hard drive.
5. Resize the image using a photo finishing software. I used Picasa 3 (free download). Once you open your picture in Picasa, you need to export it:
FILE>EXPORT PICTURE TO FOLDER
You can adjust the image quality and pixel size of the image. Please ensure that the file is in JPG format and is exactly somewhere between 3KB and 4KB. (I'm not missing any zeros!!). I thought at first that it was impossible to get a JPG file this small. Picasa can do it for you.
6. I suggest that before you fill out the form online, try uploading the picture. If the file does not meet the requirements, a message will appear. Otherwise, probably 2 or 3 message boxes will appear asking you whether you want to continue. Click yes. HOWEVER, when the ActiveX yellow bar appears this time, ignore it.
7. Fill out the form.
8. Click submit at the end of the form. If everything is OK, you will proceed to the next page.

You people keep going on about the photograph when every one of you has missed the point!!!
The point is the dialogue box to insert the photo file does not open!!! That's what what the bloody problem withthe Enjaz site is not the size of the friggin' photo.

Hi guys
has anyone had any problems with paying for it? I have tried 3 different credit cards and each have come up with this paid failed: sale -3000 error message ...which is -to say the very least - VERY annoying.
I am applying for a family visa (£39) with 5 passports (wife and 3 kids) ...meaning that these vampires (aka 'official agents') are prohibitively expensive ....£700 odd quid ..."to stand in line/check your visas/collect/etc." ...ok I will pay you £100 ...but PER PASSPORT??? are you going back and forth for each one???
sorry venting.
can anyone help with this. I have given up trying to go along today.
what is it with saudi and putting up hurdles??? Its fine if it makes it easier but from my point of view it is an ENTIRELY irrelevant stage that does not change any of the other stages for me.
gone it seems were the 'contacts' in the consulate/embassy are helpful. I once went to the embassy at 10am - sat in an office, had a cup of tea , left at 11:30 and then got on a flight at 3 or 4 pm .....and I was a student then!
