Emirates Golf Club days are numbered?

Re: Emirates Golf Club days are numbered?
This place sounds more and more like Vegas every day. There they've expanded out and in the city they're knocking down hotels that are only like 10 / 15 years old. Do you think this is the way that Dubai's going to go? A lot of people are saying it'll run dry of construction in 15 years time....I can't see it.
strip clubs and casinos are what its missing

We will know they have gone too far when they get to Hatta rocks.

A lady from a UK broadsheet newspaper got in touch with me (through my blog) about all the golf courses being built or in the pipeline and, subsequently, the amount of water that will be used to keep them pristine. She reckoned there are 11 courses on the way.
On the casinos side of things, I heard rumours of off-shore casinos on islands or moored ships.

I have no general idea of maritime law, but I assume that for the casino to be outside of UAE law, it would have to be in international waters.
Of course the government can just create 'law no.28 2008 and make is so a casino not on land is outside of UAE jurisdiction, hence legal', but I think that really would be taking the P a bit.

In which case doesn't it need to be something like 15k offshore?
Someone mentioned to me that in the Burj Al Arab there is what looks suspiciously like a casino pit (now one of the restaurants?) as they initially thought they could put a casino in as it is on it's own "island"???

Getting back on thread for a moment...
I can see the Emirates Golf Course being in a very vulnerable position, located as it is next to some of the most expensive real estate in Dubai. Bit unfortunate for those poor sods who bought in The Views, paying a premium over The Greens apartments to get a golf course view. Emaar are developing a bit of a track record for that- somebody has already mentioned the lake at Arabian Ranches.

Their arguement was generally 'you know you have bought in a development overlooking something fantastic that will never be built on'.

Yep. I spoke to 3 or 4 people at the Desert Classic that have bought at the Views just because of its 'iconic' position overlooking EGC.
