Emirates Golf Club days are numbered?

Is there any truth to the rumours circulating that Emirates Golf Club is ripe for redevelopment?
Is it coincidental that Jumeirah Golf Estates heavily sponsored this years Desert Classic and the 'Road to Dubai' $20 European Tour finale will be held at JGE from 2009?
Will this be the end of the Desert Classic?

Just course changes, or squeezing in some more real estate?
Emaar already took out the great lake view to the front of the golf club at the ranches to build the 'Alma' townhouses. Wouldn't put it past the developers to do something similar there...

The Desert Classic is penciled in for a move to one of the Fire or Ice courses I heard.

Heard this rumour also - hearing it from different sources goes a step closer to confirming it though... Shame - its so close to home and I like to head ver in an evening and hit a bucket of balls on the range.

I prefer the 19th W10 ;)

I had heard that it will be going and in light of the fact that the Hard Rock and the Palm Hotel are going I would say that it would follow suit that Emirates will follow.

well when it was built there was nothing out there. just desert
its now prime real estate. expect lots of villas to be built on it.

they will just build more golf courses out in the desert.

This place sounds more and more like Vegas every day. There they've expanded out and in the city they're knocking down hotels that are only like 10 / 15 years old. Do you think this is the way that Dubai's going to go? A lot of people are saying it'll run dry of construction in 15 years time....I can't see it.
