Default Dubai - Unmarried Couple

Good Afternoon All,

I see this has been asked before but I believe the law has now changed and unmarried couples can now live together. Therefore, if one partner has been approached by their employer to work and reside in Dubai and it is now legal to co-habit are their options available with regards to securing a visa for the other partner and step-child? I understand that getting married resolves this quite quickly but if that is not currently an option what does exist if anything? I can see Freelance/ Business visa options but are there any other easier routes.

Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks.

my understanding is that whilst it’s not illegal for an unmarried couple to cohabit it doesn’t have any impact in respect of visa sponsorship…… there is currently no option to sponsor an unmarried partner. UAE only recognise legally married couples for the purposes of visa sponsorship I’m sure someone will correct if that’s wrong or has changed.

What UKMS said is correct. You can cohabit but you cannot sponsor a partner as you need to married. With regards to sponsoring a Step-Child you will need permission from the childs Father

Thanks to both of you for the replies and taking the time. This is how I thought it was based on the research I have done. It would appear the other visa routes are the only answer.

Stay safe.
