Dubai social for the over 50's
I have lived/worked both in Saudi and in Egypt (teaching). In both places I found it very easy to get into a social life. Particularly in Saudi all ages mixed for a variety of different social events ranging from DVD nights, quizzes, house parties to some fairly wild discos/balls.
I have been in Dubai for 2 years now and find it very difficult to get the same range of activities. Most of my workmates are a lot younger (they are in the 20's/early 30's, I am in my early 50's). The main activity seems to be getting blind drunk and goofing around.
I'm not condemning this, just need to find an alternative/s. Most of the 'elder statesmen/women' of Dubai seem to have closed social circles which it is difficult to get into.
Am I being unfair? does anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

Why not go to the BE Quiz Night as MataHari and company are almost in your age bracket...hastily runs out of the room.

Afraid to admit, I like Quiz nights and the only Matahari I know of was a spy in the war.
