Default Dubai branches of UK universities..... any good?

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of these places, such as Heriot-Watt Uni Dubai or Middlesex Uni Dubai, etc?

Are they highly regarded, either locally or internationally? Are they the equivalent (in any sense) of their UK parent institutions? Easier to get in, or harder?

Thanks in advance............

I get the impression the two best respected as Cass and Liverpool. Manchester is up there, as is Heriot-Watt.

Though as Millhouse pointed out, Middlesex isn't respected.

I am perhaps not really qualified to give judgement being a technical college product. However my daughter completed a BBA from H-W here when it operated via Dubai Aviation College and the certificate has been respected. She had previously studied for an HND through DAC.

I have no idea about the reputations of the schools here or there but the bloody radio ads for Cass - Roger the banker (as if anyone would want to) - drive me up the wall......

Tried London business school in Dubai - much better than Cass or Middlesex - but depends on what course you/kids want to do

Also why specifically a UK university ?

The word on the street (as it were) is that they are all considered a little bit as 'buy a diploma' type schools. This isn't helped by those people who enroll with zero intention of doing any actual work..

This reputation seems to be especially common when it comes to postgrad degrees, although I'm sure some schools are more highly regarded than others..

Is this for kids schooled in UAE or from elsewhere? For me, part of going to university is learning to live on your own and develop as an adult so that you are ready to make your way in the world.

I can't help but thinking that would not be the case going to university in Dubai.

I realise that there could be reasons for expat kids to go to universities here, but it would never be my choice.
