Default Discovery Gardens, Dubai

Is this the reality of Discovery Gardens, Dubai?

Within the six kilometre length of Discovery
Gardens you can enjoy a wide range of familyoriented
amenities including 13 community
swimming pools – 12 of which will include special
children’s pools – plus tennis, basketball and
volleyball courts, gyms, a football pitch, cycling
and jogging trails, mosques and extensive parking.

Are the pools finished, are there any gyms? Can I play tennis there?

Information from anyone living there would be greatly appreciated as I will be living here soon.

thanks

Spugsy should be able to give you a positive slant. From what I have seen, however, its not much better than International City with many companies buying complete apartment buildings for use as glorified labour camps.

I live there and am about to sign another years agreement, where I am (right at teh end) itsbrand new buildings, dead quiet as well.

There's supermarkets and restaurants, takeouts in Disco Gardens - basketball courts but the swimming pools seem finished but not open which is a right load of shit.

As for teh rest - no, none of it, well a mosque near ibn buttua mall.

Also it gets a bad name on here from people being a bit snobby and cüntish, there are people who work in hotels squashed into 1 bed places but me and the missus wouldn't dream of living anywhere that's crap and we're prefectly happy here, plus the rent have dropped by AED 10k as well.

10k more?! Soon you'll be living there for free!

Seriously though, even Marina rents have dropped by 20-30k compared to this time last year.

yup it's all good, where we are, there are 3 buildings in a U shape, ours is about 30% full and the other two totally unoccupied.

It's a sh*thole! If you are happy to cohabit with the Taliban and labourers living 10 to a 1 bed then go ahead. We lived there for 6 months earlier this year and I would call it a 'ghetto'. I have not seen 'Inernational' city but I can only imagine it to be the same or worse. It is cheap but definitely not for families. Good luck finding a pool!

I felt seriously uncomfortable on numerous occasions when confronted by large groups of 'Taliban' or 'Labourers' when returning to my apartment in the dark. The street lighting in abyssmal. BTW we were in Med3.

totally agree. they should be forced to live in labour camps away from us and not pollute the rest of the city.

Indeed, and what was I thinking of? Sharing a street with indians and philipinos? I'm a disgrace.

some absurd replies. Not too concerned about the construction workers they are very humble and nice people.

More concerned to be around people like larnie!

thanks for your replies.

Oh, yes, let's all be smarmy and self-satisfied in our big, strutting, masculine politically correct selves and not consider what it may be like for a single western woman under certain circumstances.....

I don't consider Disco Gardens unsafe, but it's too far out of town for my taste and the lack of pools would be bothersome. Plus it's a Nakheel project and Nakheel are shite developers.
