Re: CV--Header
Maybe its the mosque just opposite the entrance to my villa which gets me down...its almost all night, every night these days...glad to escape to Fujairah, although its dry here with no liquor licence...my misses is begging me to relocate to California, mainly for the sake of our daughter.

Re: CV--Header
From an outsider's perspective--from what i've read--it seems dubai is positioning itself as a model citizen: an aid hub for africa (humanitarian city), current programs like Dubai Cares, and the city's first corporate social responsibility report.
am i fooled by the hype?

I've been wondering that...

Re: CV--Header
dubai cares? Rather than starting some fancy new programme with dignitaries making impassioned speeches, how about enforcing already exisiting laws closer to home about treatment of the bottom tier of society, paying labourers the agreed wage, allowing pay increases to cope with the high inflation, shock-horror even consider unions...?
Nah far easier to hire some PR guru to throw some more smoke around.

Re: CV--Header
I never include my age, religion, nationality, hobbies, marital status, "goals" etc etc on my CV.
I just have my name and contact details on the centre at the very top.
Then start with the current/last organisation you're working for on the left, with designation below. Then period of employment and place on the right.
Brief description of responsibilities (bullet points) and significant achievements.
Education - right at the end.
Ideally your CV should not be more than 2 pages long, 3 at the most.

That is a big no no - not unless you're applying to become a model.

Re: CV--Header
do they ask for all of that afterwards anyway before moving forward? I applied to a few jobs all over the gulf region last year, every agency came back asking for marital status, age, nationality etc. at the time i thought it was a bit strange so never replied but since my latest job hunt for dubai i've realised that it seems to be a standard set of questions
