Hi everybody there!!

i just discovered this website & went thru lots of threads; that's nice!!

i'm currently in Casablanca (morocco) and moving very soon, maybe next week - just sorting out some visa issues - to Sharjah...
i'll be working for the same company i worked with here in casa, it's just a transfer, and their HQ is in Sharjah;
i'll be in the hotel for 10 days, time for me (and the agent) to find an apartment;
i'm hoping to find an apartment close to the office (i hate traffic), don't know what are the prices for aprtmnt rental; i prefer a furnished one..
i know i won't find a huge thing, i'm used to space here in morocco, it's cheap and nice, but i know it will be a bit different there...
Could anyone help on average prices for a 1bedroom furnished aprt?
i got my international driving license as i'll probably need a car, but don't know whether i'll start with it or wait for some weeks before...

i was just hoping to know some people there in Sharjah...

and have couple of questions:

are there places (beach not pool) where to swim and why not dive?
what are the good gym clubs? how much/month approximately?

not sure of prices of apartments in Sharjah but maybe you should have looked into that a bit more before accepting the position, you may well end up out of pocket. Good luck with the move.

Hi BC. Welcome to Sharjah, Been here for few weeks now. Dont know much about the prices around here but I can answer the other two questions. There are few beaches to swim in Al-khan and on the way to Ajman I think but who wants to swim in July anyway. It will be hell on earth this year I tell ya. Not sure about diving in Sharjah but even if you could, I dont think it will be a wow experience as you will be staring at sand the whole time (No marine life ).

As for gyms, I found you get the best value when you get a membership with a gym in a hotel (even if you're not staying at the hotel its still possible to join). We pay 500 dhms every three months and dont think thats too bad considering its next door.

where abouts is your office? corniche area?

the office is in the corniche area, and i was told that i can get a good 1bedroom apt with around 45000 AED/year, it was just to get a confirmation (as on websites it's difficult to get info about sharjah staff)
