friends of ours have home insurance in the UK and are not allowed to leave the property uninhabited for more than 62 days at a time otherwise their insurance is invalidated

home insurance is different... normal insurance doesnt allow it to be empty over 30 days if so then it becomes invalid... but you can get insurance that you specify that is like unoccupied, you just pay a lot lot more for it.
