Doha or Muscat

Doha or Muscat
I am trying for two jobs in Doha and Muscat, each, as I would like to leave my job in Fujairah, as things at my co. are not looking good at all and I may be out of work soon.
I went for an interview to Doha last Saturday and I have noticed that although Doha looks a bit better than in 2006 when I was last there, it still, is Doha, and I felt a sense of elation on arrival back to DXB...
So, not withstanding the jobs and the companies, just looking at the life in either of these two cities, Doha and Muscat, which one, would you think would be better? I have a wife and a young boy, too, and my wife is thai.
I have lived for 2 years in Doha during 2006-07 but I have not lived in Muscat, apart from a short transit stopover in the airport.
I welcome your comments/comparison

Re: Doha or Muscat
Muscat will offer a far better living environment and a better way of life . Qatar has improved a lot over the last 4 years but it's still Qatar . The mindset and attitude are the same and it will never change in that regard , you can live well here but it can be tedious , difficult , tiresome and a pain in the arse .
It would be a no brainer for me . Even if the sums were not the same i'd still consider less cash for a better living destination . Doha is not classed as a tough posting and i don't see much uplift or premium being paid against other Gulf countries .

I am in exactly the same position I have worked in Doha, on and off, since 2006 but have only passed through Muscat. For me the offer in Muscat pays $1500 less a month than Doha and probably will involve working Saturdays. Still I am going to go for Muscat. Right or wrong ?

I turned down a decent job there a few years ago whilst still in Dubai , the irony is within 12 months i ended up here .

For me Doha is not a good place to be because of the weather during summer. I used to work there as an electrical engineer and god its so hot during noon time, you cant barely hold the handle of your car door.

Re: Doha or Muscat
Decision made - moving to Muscat next week. Over the last 8 years I have spent a total of 4 years in Doha. We have had a good social life with great friends and I can safely look back with pride and say that over the 4 years I have produced absolutely nothing of any value.
