Check with them if you need all degree certs??
They needs only the higher and latest one. Please check, saves hassles.

I was advised that I do not have to have my own or by husband's birth certificates attested. Is that true?

Why do you need your degree certificates processed? just out of interest, would you need other things such as GCSEs/A-levels or is this just something for specific roles?

thanks!
EDIT: just thought I would add, my new employer hasn't mentioned/asked me to do this with my certificates, is this normal or abnormal? they are an IT consultancy firm.

I certainly had to provide an attested copy of my university degree, but not sure if it is was to get the visa for me or to apply for visa for my dependents (ie family).

Also some companies have better connections than others and therefore don't require the same level of documentation for the employee, for the dependents they are strict though. You have to prove that you are legally married and that the kids are yours.

Hiya - I went to see a notary and they were able to sort it all out in a couple of days. Found a local notary by checking the notaries society web page and from there, they did there business and then passed it on to an agent to get everything else sorted. Im sure others would beg to differ, but I could not find a way of doing it outside of the UK without major, major hassle. For similar documentation, I think it cost about 500, but there was really no hassle at all, just turn up with your docs to the notary's office. Don't forget if your boys are school age and will be changing school mid year they will need transfer certificates too...

Well in Qatar you need 4 stamps to attest/ legalise a document:

Solicitor (UK)
FCO (UK)
Qatar Embassay (UK)
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Qatar)

There are specialist companies in the UK e.g. this one that will arrange all three of the UK stamps and courier the certificate to you overseas, cost me £288 for the fastest service (2-3 days from receipt to dispatch).
