I am resident in Dubai and quite optimistic about plugging myself in here somewhere, the heat of the econ-downturn and all. I've got 5 years experience in architecture/ interior design.

if you are an interior designer you will do okay - this is the one area that continues to thrive

to get a job in this market you need to be shit hot at what you do - there are plenty of people after the one job
