Default Architect/Project Manager

Hi,

I am currently looking to relocate to Dubai from Northern Ireland, with my wife and little boy. I am a registered Architect currently working in NI.

I will be coming over to Dubai on 16th to 21st October to have a look at the area and speak to some Practices/Consultancies.

Can anyone help with a few leads and costs/packages etc?

Thanks

Arc1

Welcome to BE

Have a search, there's loads of threads on packages etc...also a few threads on architecture as well as some agencies that are specific to the industry in the wiki if you have a gander through that

Hi my husband and I are architects currently based in Manchester, thinking of relocating to Dubai. I would appreciate if you could help me out with some leads or companies that are recruiting at the moment.
Thanks.

look on "just construction" and other similar agency sites, as they always have lots. I'm an architect too, although I moved over with my husband and baby daughter and am not currently working.

As for packages, don't let your eyes light up when you see the £40-£70k +£15k housing allowance... rents on a 2-bed place are now about £30k per year (+5% deposit, +5% agents' fees, +5% housing tax).

To give you an idea, we're resigned to not making any savings in our first year over here... although all that would change if I were to go back to work... bah!

Thanks for all the replies. To be honest the situation is a bit bleak here with the credit crunch and all, dont see things changing at all. Although the money is attractive, its not just that but a chance to work on some good schemes is equally appealing.
Grace, thanks for your message, I will email you all details.
Good luck to eveyone on the job hunt.
Cheers!

yeah, that's exactly why we came over - job certainty and not-so-run-of-the-mill projects.

Do it for the experience, but don't expect to roll in gold... but then again, since when have we ever been able to do that?! lol

Good Luck and let me know how you all get on
