Hi, me and husband are currently in oman but leaving at end feb. We moved here in august. I gave birth to my daughter last week and we want to get her passport ready for travelling home but problem - what do we do for countersigning it?we have not lived here 2 years so do not know anyone here who can sign it and people in uk have not met our daughter yet so any ideas what we can do?

the countersignatory only needs to have known you for over 2 years and to be brutally honest, babies change so much in so little time that even had they seen her at birth, in a couple of months time her hair could have fallen out/ changed colour, eyes changed colour and well, she'd be twice the size.

The whole photo ID for kids is a farce. I had my daughter's done at 8 weeks (dark hair, dark eyes, strangely square face) and now she's blonde with green eyes... and no square face. I had my son's done at 5 days old... more as a joke than anything else.
