I'm sure that shit does not literally flow in the streets of Grimsby.... whereas in Jeddah....

I run through the Al Hamra district en-route to the corniche, and sections can be like a steeplechase, except it aint water.

I'm pretty sure the OP hadn't anticipated his well meaning (well I guess it was or perhaps we should call it attempted propaganda) post to turn into this. Quite funny though.

That's true, I've had several numbing nights in Grimsby.

Running in Grimsby would be classed an extreme sport!

The infrastructure in Jeddah is in need of a major upgrade - this is well recognised by the Jeddawis themselves.

As the gateway to the holy cities of Mecca/Medina and Saudi's principal trading city, the 'Bride of the Red Sea' is in serious need of some loving attention.

That may prove to be difficult, as it is only allowed behind closed doors...

Not if you go to a specific Starbucks in Riyadh (according to another equally amusing thread) where anything goes....

Ok, back on topic.

1) Where can one get "decent" sushi in Jeddah? Decent for the region, I mean.

2) Other than Toasted and Casper & Gambinis, what are good lunch places that deliver?

3) Where can one jetski?

4) Can I run along the corniche in shorts?

5) Why are the beds in the Hilton so uncomfortable?

6) What's the nearest Al Baik to the airport?

7) For Korean food, Arirang or Koreana?

I've seen shorts on rare occasion, but you would be an oddity; I wear 3/4 length track pants and not had any problems as I weave between the rugs of the picnicking locals. It's not a major issue as freedom goes - I'm fairly relaxed that different cultures have different perspectives on decency.

You can get east Asian food at the Filipino 'Fiesta' restaurant, top floor of the Mahmal shopping centre in Al Balad. They allow mixed dining and stay open discreetly during prayer times.
