Boiling water is useful. The chambers are very well temperature controlled to develop the larvae so additional heating gets them to move. You can use creosote too but that is better for termite mounds a long way from your nose.

Good science but insufficient surface tension to allow capiliary action - a problem with light solvents. If it was using liquid sodium as a solute then it might work but there may be other problems arising then.

I have a mental image of Mr and Mrs Spugsy acting out scenes from Aliens when trying to get rid of the 'mites... perhaps you can make it in to a Youtube viral hit...
Spugsy: Let's just bug out and call it even, OK? What are we talking about this for?
Mrs Spugsy: I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
Spugsy: ****in' A...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spugsy: I'm ready, man, check it out. I am the ultimate badass! State of the badass art! You do NOT wanna **** with me. Check it out! Hey Ripley, don't worry. Me and my squad of ultimate badasses will protect you! Check it out! Independently targeting particle beam phalanx. Vwap! Fry half a city with this puppy. We got tactical smart missiles, phase-plasma pulse rifles, RPGs, we got sonic electronic ball breakers! We got nukes, we got knives, sharp sticks...
Mrs Spugsy: Knock it off, Spugsy. All right, gear up.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kitteneee: We'd better get back, 'cause it'll be dark soon, and they mostly come at night... mostly.

Wetting agents, or surfactants, are present in common insecticide solutions. This ensures good contact on insect body surfaces, which are often hydrophobic.
The wetting agents work by lowering surface tension. This reduction of surface tension allows the insecticide to spread out and should allow for better penetration into the compacted sand.

Hmmmm, I woke up a few days ago and there was a funny little mound of stuff next to the door, on closer inspection it seems that ants are somehow coming up between the cracks in the tiles and pushing all the stuff out making these little mountains, and its not just in one place in the house either,
anyone had this before? what do I do?

My mate went on holiday one time (in band camp) to majorka ..init! and she was drinking Malibu the night before, went to bed and woke up with an iching on her nose. She put the light on and had ants hanging off her nose they had actually bitten a chunk off part of her nose. Would not have belived it but saw the scabby nose for myself!
