Ants
Hmmmm, I woke up a few days ago and there was a funny little mound of stuff next to the door, on closer inspection it seems that ants are somehow coming up between the cracks in the tiles and pushing all the stuff out making these little mountains, and its not just in one place in the house either,
anyone had this before? what do I do? |

Re: Ants
Get ant powder, put it around the cracks etc, they carry it into their nests and it kills them.....at least that is the idea!

Re: Ants
Yup, it is fairly common in Dubai. If you can see where they are coming out of a kettle full of boiling water down the whole will work wonders, otherwise Spinneys sell a wide range of heavy duty pharmaceuticals designed to send ants off to their final resting place. When I lived in a villa they didn't really bother me as long as they stayed out of the house so I just bought some ant killer/deterrent from Spinneys and sprayed in on the front and rear steps. That kept them out for a couple of months and when it stopped working I just reapplied it. They do appear to be more of a problem in the summer for some reason.

Re: Ants
yeh its pretty common.
Get your self to a supermarket and the insecticide section. plenty to choose from but the best are either the ones that come as small pellets that the insects take into the nest or the "barrier" sprays which can be effective for a few months. Failing that any spray will kill em but be careful as the stuff is toxic to humans as well so good ventilation etc. |
Re: Ants

Spugsy, please don't do anything cruel. There must be something you could use to encourage them to leave, rather than kill them.
