Hi there,
I'm wondering if you can advise further on potential pitfalls/scams and the like when looking to buy a used car in Abu Dhabi?
ideally, I'd be looking to buy somewhere close to, or within Khalifa City?
Many thanks.

Pifalls and Scams indeed. Yes please be wary i have bought a few used cars as an expat and it is always a tricky business.
Sounds like you may not be an expert able to spot issues like prior crash damage etc. I would suggest if you can to view the car with soemone who has a bit of experience.
Also well worth paying for a used car inspection service. Should come in around AED 500 where an independent garage will give the car an all round check and report on any immediately apparent issues that you should be aware of.
If you dont have much experience of buying used cars try checking pre-approved from the dealer options or Al Futtaim Approved used cars as i belive these have to pass some basic checks. You will pay a premium but this gives some assurance that its not a total lemon.
Personally if buying used i prefer to buy off other expats and would want to see the service history to check it has at least had the basics like oil changed on schedule.
Hope this helps and good luck. Despite all of the points above i have always found the process quite enjoyable and felt i was able to get a nice Car and reasonable deal compared to what the money would get in the UK.
