Have been kicked out of a few, normally the Emirates security guards boot you out at :1.30am but like NL says, it varies from place to place.

No Miss Behave, your post is not correct.

Yes I would like to come back, and i could have been back a long time ago were i willing to take a job beneath my experience or salary expectations.

Im not desperate to get back otherwise i would have taken any old job, or would have come out here riding on the coat-tails of a spouse like some people here.

I will be back once the right role and package is offered, and will not prostitute or compromise myself just to get back out there.

MB, i never said your not entitled to your own opinion, you are, I just said that it is of no importance to me whatsoever.

Tell me about it, this drab North Sea outpost makes me want to commit self-harm.

But I did enjoy bacon, butter, sausages and non-sugared bread while I was there...

Thanks for your advise. I am married for many years, but prefer the word 'partner'. I have since realised that in Dubai i will need to switch back to spouse. Personally i find partner much more positive. In fact i really prefer the Vietnamese approach they refer to spouse as "home". so on introduction might say 'Meet my "home".'

Have had some feedback on temporary accommodation. Greens - any good.

Many thanks

The Greens apartments are the perfect area if you work in M City. They aren't as far 'out' of Dubai as the Springs or the Meadows, It's right next door to the Emirates Mall, all amenities are nearby (Supermarket, eateries, pharmacy are walking distance) and they have just built some 'fly overs' which means M City is right on your doorstep, there are well maintained gyms and swimming pools too.

I sound like a Sales person, but seriously, the greens would be the best or one of the best options for you, I dunno how much they're going for, I think they may be a bit pricey at the moment, check in the Gulf News Properties sect.

Wish everyone had the same attitude JD! Unfortunately, a lot of people do just the opposite - will take any job, far below their experience & salary expectations

When I wanted a change and started looking around, the headhunter laughed when I told him my salary expectations - I turned down many opportunities - which though paying much higher than what I was getting, wasn't anywhere near what would have motivated me to move. Within 2 weeks, I had an offer from a place which offered me double of what I was getting, and I took it!. Just a matter of time and luck - stick to what you can realistically expect - you will get it!

To the OP, Greens is nice, but be careful of greedy landlords. I think the rents are far too high. But I guess (or hope) your package has been tailored taking greedy landlords into account

Cheers

Thanks then thats where i am going. It is a bit pricey, but you know it is temporary and I will look for something more permanent when there.

Excellent now i feel ready to go

Yup, there is no co-habiting in the UAE it is technically a jail-able offence. Everything has to be in one name, not joint as you should not be living together. Never say you are living with someone to any government officer or department.

Whoever's name any rental agreement is in, is the name that all services have to be in as well. This is also the person who has the pleasure of doing all the running around (and this they certainly get you doing that, and take pleasure in doing it).

Have fun,

Maggie
