Any recommendations for homesick Brit now living in LA?
Second year here now and although husband is fully settled and living his dream life, I am working 70 hour weeks and homesick daily....any recommendations for weekend exploring for a homesick Brit? And how do you join an expat community that might have meet ups locally in Los Angeles?

Hi, did you find anything to cure the homesickness?!

Take a trip to somewhere green. I live in Vermont, New England feels somewhat like Britain. I did fly to LA first and I was not happy, so I moved to Vermont, it suits me fine, better for my soul. Maybe pop up to Washington or Oregon for a break. The Redwoods look amazing.

Take a trip to Big Bear, or San Juan Capistrano or the beach. It's not to far from LA. We live east of LA with a view of the hills. We like it here, and I would find LA a bit soul destroying to be honest.

Er Sequoia National Park is in California, and only 200miles north of downtown LA, north east of Bakerfield.

I’m not sure if the OP is still engaged with this thread, but Big Bear is a nice retreat from the city without having to go far. We’ve spent many summers there (no winters as we’re not skiers), and it’s cooler in the summer. Great if you have kids too.
