Default VSC changed the timescale for approval of our case.

Checked the case status this morning and they extended the number of days
from 15-21 to 30-45 days.

Anyone know why ?????

Have you tried calling them and finding out why they have extended the anticipated timeline for I-129F approvals?

I don't work for INS but would hazard a guess that it could be:

1. Workers have been pulled form the I-129F department to work on other, more backlogged, or date sensitive petitions.

2. The other 3 services have been bitching because VT is too fast and VT is slowing down so that the other 3 look a little better in the public's eye.

3. Security checks are taking a little longer.

4. The switch from INS to Homeland Security might be throwing a small monkey wrench into the system.

5. The two people who work the I-129F desk have come down with the flu and will be out of work for a week so all I-129F's are backed up.

Wow, first post ...a simple question and i get it right in the neck. Im
sorry for those people who have been waiting a long time, believe me you
have my fullest sympathy it sucks being away from the one you love, there is
nothing that compares to it.

I was curious and plucked up the courage to post, others dont because of the
treatment you get, be a little nicer next time, no one has to get nasty or
sarcastic on here. I thought the idea was to share information and help one
another.

I suppose i will get it back after this too. Just think for a while and
before you roast me, stop and decide to put your time to a better use, i
would.

Rete, thanks for your post, you seem to be the mother of this site and a
veritable font of knowledge in all things fiance visa "ish". I did call the
VSC yesterday and inquired about processing they said next week and then
today increased the timescale.

Thanks for the insight into the INS methodology, very interesting.

geez. take it easy people. it was just a question. there is no reason to take out your frustration on someone else. i would be stressed if they changed my waiting time even if by 10 days.
there is no excuse for treating someone like that.

its probably the whole changing over of INS. we are starting to get different stories from california as to when they will start working on them agian too.

sorry you got responses the way you did,

Thanks to everyone who replied, i know we are all in this together and
honestly i do empathise with you guys who have been waiting a long time... i
hope we can all get through this in the shortest time possible.

Heres to the Homeland Security people coming in and shaking the tree and
some visas falling out, especially for you guys who have been waiting a long
time.

Thanks for the appologies, it may help me want to post again and remove the
emotional scars !!!

Hi:

The time frames placed in the NOA Receipts and the on-line status are pieces of fiction. However, people have this tendency to treat them as fact.

However, it is a fact that applications are now taking longer to adjudicate. The addition of all the security checks and the transition from "INS" in the Department of Justice to "BCIS" in the new Department of Homeland Security is mucking up the works.

Sdbrit,

I too checked my I-129F petition's status today and the 15-21 day processing time has been extended to 30-45 days. Not surprisingly, no further explanation was given. I've been trying to reach the VSC by telephone for over a week, but the line is forever busy, so I've given up. Anyway, my phone call would only add to the INS workload, so I've decided to wait patiently for the approval. I doubt if I would find out anything even if I did get through to the VSC. I'll post as soon as I hear anything.

Best regards,
Melissa

Not going to get any simpathy in the NG except for others going through VSC. I'm at day 140 now. Count your blessings

Who's expecting sympathy? I certainly am not looking for sympathy from a British Expats NG. The forum is an information exchange/resource, and my previous post was perhaps of interest/use to Sdbrit. Please do not spoil the open and welcoming environment of the forum with presumptuous posts.

Yes, "count your blessings" is always a good idea - and so is mind your manners.

Respectfully,
meliski

It's a good thing that NOT just "others going through VSC" understand the universal sadness and frustration that goes with being separated from loved ones for ANY amount of time -- at least from my experience. There were many non-VSC people on here who offered kind words of encouragement when I was worried because it was taking 60+ days to get our second NOA -- at least FOUR TIMES longer than the then-VSC timeframe of 15-21 days.

While this NG is an information resource, many people -- including myself -- find it as a source of strength and comfort, BECAUSE it is made up of people going through the same thing I am. In other words, it's made up of people who CAN sympathize -- or at the very least, empathize -- with others' experiences, regardless of what SC they're going through.

And honestly, I think most people are capable of empathizing with someone who's just discovered that the processing timeframe given to them by their SC has just doubled or tripled in length. There will always be some who cannot find that empathy within themselves, but thankfully there are others who do and are kind enough to extend it. (You know who you are! )
