Update from an OOOLD poster ..
Hi everyone.
Probably none of you will remember me, but I began posting here back in 2001
when I found this group. Back then I had begun the K-1 process with my
fiance (now wife) from Romania.
Just to summarize where we've been:
We met online in October of 2000. I traveled to Romania August/September
2001.
My wife and her son were approved for the K1 in spring of 2002. They came
here and we were married on Memorial Day of 2002. We had our AOS interview
in Jan/03.
Ever since then we've just been waiting... and waiting.. every few months, I
contact my Congressman, he writes a letter to the INS, and gets the same
replay.. "still undergoing security clearance"...
So my wife doesn't have her green card yet, but the good thing is that by
the time she gets it, I assume it won't be conditional anymore, since we've
been married over three years now!
We're very happy, my wife had a hard time adjusting to American life, her
son had no problem lol.. he's now 7, and autistic, but is more like an
American boy than anything else :) All the teachers at our local school here
in Wisconsin love him to death!
So.. I wanted to thank those that helped me back then with so many
questions, especially Rete! :)
The Milwaukee office has SEVERE problems.. or at least that's my impression,
but I won't go down that path :)
I hope everyone is well, and I hope all those who've started this long road
the best of luck!

Wow, you must have the record for the longest security clearance check... 31 months... did I do my math right?
Hope you get an answer soon -- am so sorry to hear that you have been, and are still waiting, for so long.

I'm sorry to hear about the delay with Valentina's AOS... that is an exceptionally long time!
Have you thought about contacting a congressperson to look into this for you?

Hi there Jeff and Valentina
So glad to hear from you and to know that all is well and that the cultural adjustment is over ;-)
Damn sorry to hear your news that Valentina and son are still waiting for final adjudication of their I-485s.
Okay I see that you have a congressperson looking into the status periodically. That's good but it is leading nowhere. Also it would appear that Valentina's biometrics are going to be so outdated that they are going to be asking her to do them all over again. Which might not be a bad idea in actuality.
Look my only advice would be to start being pro-active in person with the CIS. Go online to the USCIS website and book an Infopass appointment for you and Valentina. Ask in person what the status is and be sure to mention to them when she was originally fingerprinted and if she needs to have biometrics redone and if so, could they give you the paperwork to make the appointment online.
You can also try call the 1-800-misinformation but do NOT talk with the person answering the phone. Insist, firmly but politely, to talk with a CIS Supervisor and explain the situation to him and ask his advise.
In fact, do both.
Good luck
Rete
