Thanks + affidavit of support Question
Thankyou for the responses to my Canadian Police Report question.
Unfortunately, I have limited on-line access where I am staying so I was
not able to reply sooner.
Affidavit of Support through Montreal Consulate:
I am a little confused about this statement from the website under 4.3.1
"# OF-167 is the information sheet about financial support. The US
Citizen NEEDS TO KNOW if the Consulate requires any special
documentation with the I-134 (i.e. 3 years of income tax returns instead
of just one)."
My USC fiancee tells me there is no requirement in the I-134 to submit
any income tax return, unless self-employed. Is that what the above is
referring to (self employment)?, OR, Do we need her tax return(s)? And,
how many years does Montreal request?
Thanks

Re: Thanks + affidavit of support Question
Some consulates require more than is listed on I-134, including tax
returns. Montreal does not require them unless your fiance is
self-employed. When my fiance and I went for his interview, I brought
three years of transcripts, along with copies of my W-2s from each year,
just in case, and they didn't want them. They just wanted the I-134 and
the letter from my employer. However, your fiance will need tax returns
when you marry and file to adjust your status, so she could certainly
get them now to have that out of the way. Good luck! Kristin
