Congratulations to you both. Now the big one is being saved for the actually 100% approval after the security checks are in.

I laughed at your comments to Garry about why your interview might have been easy. In reality your interview matched the majority of reports from posters. Honesty plays a big part in how you view the anticipated interview.

What does a Congressman have anything to do with this?
It's part of the role of your Congressperson, from the House or Senate, to help you in dealing with federal agencies. They have staff who specifically deal with constituents issues. I would think that your House Representative would be more appropriate since they represent constituents on a local level, whereas your Senators represent you at a state level.

That being said here's a link to one of our state Senator's website. She deals with federal agencies on behalf of constituents:

http://boxer.senate.gov/services/index.cfm

Basically once you write to your Congressperson they are obliged to respond. Usually they will investigate your case and can do a number of things (depending on how proactive they are) to your benefit.

The wait on here has been between 2 months and 2 years. You may want to ask your attorney how long he thinks would too long.

When we arrived we went thru the usual security check......then we were asked what we were there for. We told the officer at the front that we were waiting for our lawyer. he asked who? We told him and said Oh he'll be right along I am sure, he is very punctual. John walked in 5 minutes later and then a few minutes later we went into the room. They asked Garry the normal "are you a terrorist" questions etc.....
They asked him if he had plans on practicing poligamy and in his wonderful Welsh accent he said.........Whaaaaaaaat's that? And then he was told, he laughed and said "one wife's enough thank you very much!" We all had a laugh, he looked thru the joint bills, and then said you are approved but I am still waiting for the FBI check. So he said to just go home and relax cause it's another step done and we are approved and all set. I said "do you want to see our pictures or anything?" He said no I can tell you guys are for real and that was that. He never asked Garry about the overstay of 2 weeks, about anything. Just in and out. We went out to lunch to celebrate, came home and slept for 4 hours! This whole thing has been emotionally exhausting! Our lawyer did say that if the FBI name check doesn't come in a few weeks we might need to contact a Congressman. How long is typical?

THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP! We were so well prepared (actually I WAS! I did all the paperwork! ) that my lawyer asked me how my new job was going...........I said GREAT why? he then responded, I need someone like you in my office to fill a high level position! LOL
I ahve enjoyed learning all of this and I am a wicked TYPE A organizational freak.............Hmmmm know who's..........maybe someday!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Congratulations. You shoul know however that the name check can take
anywhere from a week to a year. And your Concressman can do very little
about it.

Trust me, I have been there. What you or your lawyer need to do is infopass
to your local uscis every month or so until they order a new FP.

Good Luck.
I am neither a lawyer nor an expert.

???Why would a new FP help with an overdue name check???

To Deb + Garry: Congratulations! So many at BE seem to be approved recently - we - employment-based family - were yesterday too!). Must be something in the BE water!
