Sponsorship Question
Hi there,
So far I have found this boardvery helpful but I still have some
questions. I am a canadian citizen and my boyfriend is american. We
want to get married and live in the US. However, for the 2 years he
has been living and working in canada with the exception on about 5
months between his contracts. When we go back to the US he is wanting
to go back to school to finish his degree so of course he will not be
working. How will this reflect towards him sponsoring me on a K-1
visa? I keep reading about %125 over the poverty level?? How is this
determined? How do I find out what that amount is currently? Would I
need a co-Sponsor? Any ifno would be great.
Thanks
MJ

Here's a link to the poverty guidelines: http://travel.state.gov/visa/poverty_levels.html
If your fiance is not making enough money at the time he needs to submit the I-134 on your behalf, then yes, you'll need a co-sponsor.
Best Wishes,
Rene

Annie>>> If a household has four persons, and two are on SSI (due to being
handicapped) does Immigration count that money along with the working income of
the sponsor? Or will the sponsor need to have an income of $23,563 on their
own?
