question on interim EAD
Hi all,
well, I assume (from all I hear and read), that processing times for my EAD application at NSC will take longer than the 90 days.
In this case I plan to go to the Chicago INS to get an interim ID. I found some sites that say, I need several documents, amoung them the receipt notice I-797. But I never got it. I managed to get my case number when I reached an INS officer at Nebraska on the phone, but they refused to send me a copy of the receipt notice.
Will Chicago be likely to give me an interim EAD based on my copies of the application documents and proof, that INS cashed the check, or do they actually need the receipt notice? If so, do they have to send me a copy if I insist?
Thanks,
Ivonne

Re: question on interim EAD
When I was in INS Chicago, and told them that I did not have
the NOA, they told me a cancelled check copy is fine...
Did you send the EAD renewal 90 days before the expiration ?
It's a shame they put people in situations like this, what I hate is
1 hour drive downtown, and then they show you the door
I think is that if you go after the 90 days
with enough docs, you should be able to get an interim one...
As I said before, I just wish they charged more and made things
go faster. But the rates at which they're supposed to give cards,
etc are all pre-calculated IMO.

Hi,
my situation is different. I didn't file for renewal. I filed for my first EAD. But I think, the outcome is the same...

Re: question on interim EAD
When I applied to Chicago INS for AOS, I received
an NOA for AOS, and couple weeks later, I got another
NOA update (2nd letter -- updating the time of wait
for AOS to be done + EAD info to show up)
So you never got any NOA for your AOS ?
As far as the NOA for EAD, that's ok if you did not get
it, as long as you do have some cancelled check proof.
Just show up after the 90 days and ask for the Interim
one, tell them you need to work, and you do need an
interim one. Go there with your husband sometimes and
plead your case.
just wondering, how long have you waited ?
Also usually the 90 days starts from the time when they
send you the NOA not the time they got your application
/money , but since you never got any NOA, just show them
some proof of when they received your applications (hope
you sent it with some sorta return receipt, delivery confirmation
and such)

Trunk,
my situation is still different. I am not married to a US citizen, I am married to a L1-holder, therefore I applied for L2 and I am eligible for EAD and I applied for that to. that's what my question was about. I can't tell anything about AOS but I assume, that the procedure for getting EAD is the same.

Should be, I think if you apply for EAD then you should get the
same treatment as others would be getting, how long ago did
you apply for it ?
