question about filing forms

question about filing forms
My husband, a british citizen, and I currently live in England and are planning on moving back to the USA. I now have a good idea of the forms we need to file, but I'm not sure about logistics and a timeline. I hope someone can help us with some questions.
We're going to apply for an immigrant visa but also for a K3 visa so we can get to the USA quicker. How do we do this? Do we just send the I130 form then the I129F?
We're also confused about the Affidavit of Support issue. When do we submit those forms? Are the interviews only in the USA? It seems like it would be asking a lot for us to have to travel to the US just for this interview.
Please help this confused couple!

First, start posting in alt.visa.us.marriage-based if you aren't
already. That group is more appropriate than this one for your situation
and several readers there have done what you want to do (including me,
but I also read this group).
If you are a US citizen and also a legal resident in Britain then forget
the K-3, you won't need it. File the paperwork directly with the US
embassy in London. This is known as "DCF" (direct consular filing -- not
an official term). The process should take 2-3 months
Start by reading the immigrant visa pages at
and especially their FAQs regarding the
affidavit of support. Their web pages are quite good at describing the
process.
If you do DCF the affidavit is brought to the interview along with your
last 3 year's tax returns. It will be signed by you and a consular
officer the day of the interview. It does not need to be notarised in
this case.
If you cannot do DCF I am not sure of the exact procedure (since I did
DCF in the UK myself).
Finally, I strongly suggest a better subject line for your future
messages, such as "I-130 London." The subject line for this message was
too vague and could be much more exact.
