Default New process for K1?

Hi All,

Does anyone know anything about the new website, the London Embassy website refers to a change made to K visas from 26th July and states that you now have to register with this website to get your documents returned and arrange interview?

Does the completion of the DS-160 on the new website only apply to non immigrant visa applications? Or would immigrant visa applications also have to be completed on the new website?

I was under the impression that I would send the DS-160 when I send my paperwork, however I am now unsure due to this change.

Any help/advise would be great.

Thanks Carly

I haven't heard of any recent changes. Can you post a link to what you're reading?

Thanks,

Hi Rene,

The link is http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas.html.

When you go onto the website they give you on the link there are some options and when I went in earlier it gave me an option to complete a DS-160 which confused me.

Thanks, Carly

Are you by any chance talking about the new process for non-immigrant visas discussed here: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=803796?

If so, I don't think that applies to K-1 visas. Although K-1 is non-immigrant, it's treated in the "immigrant" department because there is immigrant intent.

Oh, I see. I think the change is just in how to get your documents and passport returned to you via courier, no changes to the actually visa application process.

K-1's don't submit a DS-160, as far as I know.

There is also this for the DS-160 https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/Default.aspx which I had never seen before but this seems like it is for non-immigrant visa?

Thanks, Carly

Having just looked at the new web site shown in the Embassy web pages https://usvisa-info.com it does deal with both immigrant and non-immigrant visas. It has options to apply for an immigrant visa and register for the courier for the return of documents.

I can see it generating a lot of questions on BE.

I have already completed all my forms so I think unless told other wise by the Embassy I am just going to go with sending the paperwork off to them and not apply online.

I will ensure that I do the courier part though.....

Thanks for your help guys.

I've just tried adding my applicant details into this but nothing happens when you click submit, I'm guessing it's a temporary glitch so I've emailed them and will try again tomorrow.

Annoyingly this has tied in with them scrapping the £1.28pm phone number as well. So getting assistance is really hard as you've got to go through the automated phone system which just hangs up on you if you follow the guidance through to K1 as it just says to check their website for information.

I don't think you have to add any details if you are doing a k1 visa you just use this for the courier part that you need to do as far as I know.

Please let me know if I am wrong when you speak to them
