Default Interview

NVC completed case yesterday, anyone know how long its taking to get an interview date? (I know everyone's timeline is different, but just want a rough idea what to expect). NVC representative told me that they just filled August interviews dates. Does the NVC schedules interview dates when cases are filed in the USA or is it done by the Embassy? Thanks

NVC schedules the interview when the I-130 is filed in the USA.

I'd expect it to take 6 - 8 weeks to the interview.

Thanks a lot Rene. I only found out that the NVC completed our case today, how long does the NVC take to send an email detailing the next step? I guess I was naive thinking that they (NVC) emails you an interview date, which is 6-8 weeks away as soon as a case is completed My wife already attended her medical as we didn't anticipate getting an RFE. We have made many mistakes while on this process but we are still hopeful that my wife can be here soon as were are expecting our second baby end of October. Most airlines will allow her to travel until end of Sept (health insurance and all that is taken care of). Is it worth contacting the NVC to see if she can get an earlier interview date?

You can try contacting NVC, can't hurt to try, but no guarantees. I don't know how long it takes to get the actual interview date notice, but usually the interview is 4 - 6 weeks after that, so I allowed 2 weeks in there for you to get the notice.

Otherwise, you can wait until you actually have the date in hand, and then contact the US Embassy in London to ask for an earlier date. Again, no guarantees, but you can try.

Once the immigrant visa is issued, it will be valid for 6 months from the date of the medical. What was the date of your wife's medical exam?

A thread posted earlier was given an interview date for mid-september on the 31st July. I would expect yours to be in October at this point.

On July 31,2013 I received my date for the Embassy Interview which is on September 10,213.

Rene[/QUOTE]

She attended the medical on 07/02/2013.Will there be a problem matching her medical to her file when it does get to the embassy?

Its likely that it will not have been paired, mine wasn't, but it goes into a separate drawer and isn't hard to find.

Thanks.

Am I right in thinking that at this stage we do not have to do anything like let the NVC or embassy know that my wife has already attended the medical and that she is ready for the interview?

I thought I read somewhere that the interview can not be scheduled until the medical has been completed or is this only for K1 visa?

Correct, only for the K1 as Rene already told you.

Or for an immigrant visa when the I-130 petition was submitted to the USCIS field office in London.
