I maybe wrong but I think you have to surrend it at the N400 interview
When you have your fingerprints done they request it, well they asked me.

Ok did fingerprints today.......appt was for 10 am, got there 5-10 mins early,filled in one form, waited approx 15 mins(talked to a nice guy from Belgium)handed to 1st lady, then 5 mins later had fingerprints taken by another lady also very nice with some pretty hitech equipment....out of there by 10.35am
does anyone know if you go to same place for interview?

OK, it's been a week since I got notification that letter was send with biometrics, do I call or wait a few more days? There is a customer care number in the email

What's the big deal you are already here it is only citizenship. What does it matter if something goes missing in the mail and causes a few weeks delay.
