I just want my FP appointment letter in the next 3 days then I can firm up on a weeks jollies in the yookay 18th September

I reckon FP appointment will be around 7 Sept. I was going to do a walk in before but I don't want an interview before 28th when I return to the US so I wont rush it up too much as one never knows. I know it's usually 4 or 5 or 6 weeks to the interview from FP but I don't want any nasty surprises so I will not stretch it more than 3 weeks

exvj, it it's going well, just smile! My FPs were 5 weeks after posting the N-400. Online status still says RFE (I know - it's only been five days since I had the FPs done) so I guess the FPs are waiting for clearance, it's hard to sit and wait!

7/08/2010 N-400 sent to Arizona
7/20/2010 Check cashed
7/21/2010 Email telling of USCIS acceptance of N-400
7/28/2010 NOA received by mail
8/16/2010 Fingerprinting at St Louis office

Yep it is amazing what passes for smart casual in Oregon. Tee-shirt, jeans and muddy work boots worn by one person at my ceremony, and that was in December.

It's cheap to look suave in comparison in the USA

I will raid M&S in Leeds in 3 weeks time and turn up looking like a tailor's dummy

The West Africans are usually the smartest from what I have seen. Could be they are used to wearing jacket shirt and tie in 110 degrees !

I wore a sports jacket, shirt and tie the other Brit there wore a suit. We were both grossly over dressed by local standards as the other 22 people clearly demonstrated.

The locals in Zimbabwe used to amaze me. There was all the whites at best in light weight safari suits, casual smart open shirt jacket type top and dress shorts, and the Africans in three piece suits long trousers collar and tie. Made me overheat just looking at them.

My ceremony will be sometime in November I reckon so I just have to fight my way 110 miles through the snow and a 4 thousand foot mountain pass. I will put my union jack tie on - oops no bad idea. Praps my funeral tie. Praps an uncle Sam stove pipe hat - they can't think that detracts from the solemnity as they don't have those sensibilities.

Here is the recommended outfit >

I have discovered that the most effective piss taking is to embrace the whole deal to excess rather than fight it

We had our bio's done a couple of weeks after submitting the N 400 in 2006...the letter only gave us 3 days notice. Daughter became a USC within 3 months of our application...it took 6 months for hubby and me. Fortunately our USCIS office have interviews and oath ceremony the same day. It must be one of the busiest in the country for naturalisation because they hold oath ceremonies twice a day...Mon to Thurs.

Excellent choice !

anything but a British flag tie ... got to convince em we are all friends now after the 1776 business ...haha ! (I will write to Prince Charles afterwards and tell him I had my fingers crossed). Actually I could wear my Union Jack underpants and smirk.

Weird thing about being retired is I only wear a tie for funerals etc so my available range isn't what it used to be. If I can look half as smart as the West Africans I will be happy.
