Hi Craig, I am following your journey with great interest as I embarked on the same k-1 route last month and hopefully will be living in NY next year. Please keep on posting and good luck tomorrow.

Why the early "walk-in" instead of the scheduled date? Just curious.

An update - I received my biometrics appointment a few days ago, hard to know exactly when as I was out of town. It is for October 23rd.... but I am close to the Woodside (Queens, NYC) location, so may well attempt a walk-in. I've read other threads about other people successfully doing the same at that office. So worth a shot. I will attempt that tomorrow - all being well!

Well it seems that doing a walk in speeds up the process, as this seems to be a stage where nothing happens towards the issue of my EAD and AP, until the biometrics are completed. Perhaps I am incorrect. I like to get things completed ASAP on my end, in an attempt to shorten length of the process wherever possible.

Hi everyone,
My walk-in did not work. Staff were very nice, but they said this week was exceptionally busy, with 300+ scheduled every day. They did say trying a walk-in towards the close of business would be the best time... but still looks unlikely they could fit that in this week. Was worth a shot... may try again soon. Will update if I do!

I disagree with your premise that the biometrics affects the processing time for the employment authorization and advance parole applications. The only role that the biometrics play in processing those applications is to provide the photo and thumb print that goes on the ID card.

Hi everyone, I was close to the Woodside USCIS office this afternoon so decided to try my luck again. The center closes at 4PM, they close the doors at 3:30PM. I arrived at around 3:20 PM. There was no line at all for security, then I was directed into the waiting room, where no one was waiting. I filled out the form they gave me and was immediately taken away to be finger printed. It was far more thorough than any of the finger print scans at the airport.... I was amazed how much detail they wanted.
After all my fingers were thoroughly scanned, I was asked to sign a form (on a digital signature pad) then asked to fill out a very short survey form. Then I was sent on my way. All VERY fast. Glad it is done. Nothing to do now but wait for further news.

Wow! You are very active. What kind of questions were you asked? Whereabouts are you living and how are you spending your time while you wait for you AOS, or whatever you need to be able to work?

Hi there, for the biometrics there were no questions asked, other than confirm my nationality and citizenship. Other than that is was just a member of staff taking the fingers prints and making sure I sign. There was nothing that was case specific.
I'm living in Queens.... not far from Woodside. How am I passing the time? Well... helping the wife with things that she wants to do! I do most of the housework too!

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. Just a quick update - my EAD and AP have been approved! May take 30 days for the card to arrive, apparently! I signed up for text updates, but did not receive them, but I saw the e-mails from the USCIS in my junk mail folder! Looks like it may take some time for the actual AOS to get looked at, but we shall see.

Hi Jeff,
We came through fine overall. No damage to ourselves or our property. My wife did lose some work shifts due to her workplace getting flooded. So we lost some money due to that, but we are very fortunate overall.

Hi all! My EAD application status = card production ordered. My AP status is approved but it's not gone to the "card production ordered" stage.... but the EAD and AP are on the same card right? Does the AP require some further processing before the card is ordered? It shows as approved....
I was hopeful that the combined card would be on its way very soon.

The status updates are not all that reliable.
