The 'system' is an accumulation of historical issues that no one seems to have considered from a total perspective.
An interim solution is to provide all POE with the temp EAD stamp, or just include it in the Visa.
And as far as AP and EAD is concerned just pre print it on the AOS NoA.
No cost, no hassle, no issues - easy.
So no chance.

Good point. I DO mean in the most general terms. I'm glad that I can
deal with it that way.

Q: Is a visa req'd to marry in the UK if two US citizens are wanting to get married there, or does it apply only to foreigners wanting to marry UK citizens?

for 3.5 years, we have visited several times. Our plan is to marry and
live in the US. I can't relocate to the UK because I have a child and
ex-husband here.
What I want to do is actually *get married* in the UK. Civil ceremony,
no church wedding. Then I return to the US and begin the visa process
to bring him here. We can deal with the separation, we've already been
doing it for quite a while. I know that it would be easier to just get
a fiance visa for him, but I live in Alabama, most of my friends and
family live other places, and it's just not a very special place to get
married for me. Ultimately, I don't care, because our life together is
far more important than where we get married. But this is how I *want*
to do it.

Basically, it took no longer to approve than a regular visitors visa and didn't cost any extra, from what I recall. Because you are not intending to stay in the UK afterwards, it's an easy process.
Are you aware of the fact that you have to be resident in the UK for a certain number of days (it was either 7 or 5) during the year before you marry, in order to register your intent to marry?
