Hi - any help is gratefully appreciated

I am in the US on a L-1 currently - I have the feeling that in the next 3-6
months my employers may go out of business - thereore rendering my visa
invalid

I have a long-standing offer of work from another company - getting another
job would not be a problem

I have a USC girl friend who I have discussed marriage with (in general
terms not related to my status)

I am not eligible for a H1-b as I don't have a college degree

if we got married whilst still under the legal L-1 - and then the firm
closed, how soon could i start legally working for the new employer? and
what type of process would be required?

i am very concerned right now and I don't wish to do anything illegal
through my ignorance
