k2 aos & ssn

k2 aos & ssn
Ok she's finally here and we're slowly settling down after the hectic holidays.
Things will still be quite busy for the next week or so, so my question is, should we AOS for my daughter ASAP in haste, or can I wait a week or two to regroup and fill all forms leisurely?
Her k2 expires in April -not that I'll wait that long-, but, can I file for her around January's last week or so?
Also, it's week 11 and I still haven't gotten my SSN... can I file for hers without having received mine anyway? Does she need one at 11 years old even?
Thanks guys,
Beq

Not just a bump back to the top but also 2 questions more:
Can I file for her AOS and SSN without her, or does she need to be there?
She just started school and I would rather she didn't miss a day to go sit at a government office, but if she must be there, then she must be there...

AOS depends on your service center: if they allow for mail-in
applications, neither of you has to be there.
She probably cannot get an SSN until she has been adjusted (or gotten
an EAD). The only advantage to having an SSN is that the IRS expects
every child to have an SSN when they are claimed as dependents on the
taxes. Without an SSN you can still claim her as a dependent, but you
will have to apply for a Tax ID through the IRS.

The fact that you don't have an SSN doesn't affect the K-2 being assigned an
SSN, but a K-2 must have an EAD card to be assigned a work authorized SSN.
If you only want to file taxes get the child an ITIN from IRS and apply for
the child's SSN after the AOS is approved and the child has the I-551 card
or stamp.
Now why have you been waiting 11 weeks for an SSN? Did you go back to the
SSA office and ask them to query SAVE again? Did they send a G-845 and
have they followed up on it if they did?

Yes, I've been going back to the SSN office regularly and I'm still not in the system. They said they have been doing a SAVE query every time I go there asking what's wrong, and that they even sent out a G-845 about 3 weeks ago (they told me this a week ago), yet, nothing.
I really don't know what else to do but sit and wait and keep going there weekly.

Don't know if it will do you any good, but you could try contacting the
office that's doing the verification.
Look up the office for your state and try giving them a call
