My wife finally got her interview date for March 22nd. What was supposed to take 5 days took 6 weeks because my lawyer who I have come to the conclusion has no idea what he is doing advised that we send Packet 3 in prior to the Embassy receiving the file from NVC.
Guess what they had no receipt number to match the file with and it took until last Thursday to find our UPS package. I emailed the Embassy yesterday and told them that we bought plane tickets last April for my and children. I told them that the children were US Citizens and that my wife previously had a green card. I also told them that we were incorrectly told that my wife would be able to come to America with her old Green card last year. This is why we had bought the tickets.
To make a long story short my wife's green card was not valid anymore and we had to file for the K3 visa which took 6 months to process plus this additional hold up has left us with only one month to use the plane tickets.
The US Embassy in Ankara was very accomodating and issued an interview date the day after I explained to them what happened. They said that all the documents we filed (on our own without the lawyer's help) were in perfect order and that the visa will be granted within one day of the interview. They advised my wife to get the medical examination so if everything goes right she should be back by April 1st.

So, I'm guessing we won't have that long 6 week wait, as I'm sure Ankara has Sadegh's file from NVC. UPS is picking up P3 from his shop today. If Ankara receives it Monday, we could have an interview date by next Friday! It seems they set a date about 3 weeks later, which means we could potentially have our interview by the end of March or first week of April....wow! Of course, with him being an Iranian Moslem male, they won't issue the visa within one day for sure, but that's ok. oops, sorry, just thinking out loud.
So glad you're finally getting finished. Please post how the interview goes!
Best Wishes,
Rene

I would say your guess at the time frame is exactly right. They should process your Packet 3 in 5 days. If everything is in order I would say 3 weeks for the appointment is a pretty good guess. By the way you can check for your interview date right on their website. The only thing is they only update the website every 2 weeks from the time I started watching the website a month ago. It looks like they update on the same days the BCIS offices update their time frames. For example the last update was on Februray 20th and the previous update was February 6th which I believe are the same dates the BCIS offices updated their time frames.
