immigration status
Just a quick question. I went to an interview the other day and one of the questions was what my immigration status was. I'm in the middle of an AoS process so I have an EAD but I haven't got my green card yet. What would be my status? I searched it on google and the only thing i could see is a Lawfully Permanent Alien? Apparently nonimmigrants are when you're only staying here for a select amount of time, like a f-1 etc. I've never really considered what my status is lol. I have been paroled into the country recently too.

How did you answer them?
I imagine they just wanted to know if you had employment authorisation.

Re: immigration status
To be honest I just explained my situation and that I was adjusting status. I got the job so I guess they were satisfied with my answer hah. But i was just wondering myself what my status actually is!

Re: immigration status
Your official status is "K-1 pending AOS". I would not expect an employer to know what that means, though.
Actually if you've been paroled in, your status may even be something else. . like "Parolee pending AOS"...

Re: immigration status
When in your situation I simply said I have employment authorization and do not require sponsorship from the company now or in the future,
That being said, you're currently a non-immigrant pending adjustment of status to an permanent resident.

Uhm, the employer is treading a fine line here on what they can ask. I would reply that "I am free to work without sponsorship in the USA."
