Default I am going to be ill

Hi there everyone,

Well that was a nice introduction to a certain food company from an
immigrants point of view.

Just opened a bag of carmel popcorn and ate about 2 mouths full, it tasted
very odd so took it into my wife (My eyesight is very bad) and what she saw
freaked me out - bugs and moths INSIDE the box snacking on the food.

Now I feel ill and i'm still shaking - i'm keeping the box as i'm
considering taking it further (Don't know my rights on this though :-(

Anyway, just wanted to warn everyone that while living in the US is great,
it still has it's problems occassionally - unfortunately for me, I found
that the food standards seem to be lackluster.

I know this isn't about immigration parse' - but since I am an immigrant
settling in, I thought others might be interested.

Hi Chris,

You are absolutely right, there is a big ambiguity about food standards in
the US. They refuse to mark food as genetically modified and now they relax
requirements for organic produce so some not-entirely organic food can be
soled as organic! Just do a search for organic produce and GM's in
google.com

We always buy organic produce from small local stores, local organic grocers
and small health food stores. Some large stores like Whole Foods Market also
carry mostly organic. Try to shop at those stores. Avoid
convenience/liquor/corner stores as they are small and mostly sell liquor
not food, and thus food turn-around is not fast enough to sell fresh.

After visiting Whole Foods Market and Real Foods Market, Safeway and
Albertson's look like a dump. BTW Safeway and Albertson's recall their meat
very often. I still do not understand food recall, what if I already ate it?
what then? Will they replace by blood? how about if... will they... ehhhh...

Go Organic, recycle, ride your bike and save the planet.
