Default I-751 question for Rete

Hi all, I been following this group for some time and I have seen some real
good suggestions and comments, specially from Rete.

I sent my I-751 app on July 2003, I got a letter from VSC last month stating
that my file has been relocated to the local District office [NYC].
Now what I need to find is that how long do I have to wait for the interview
date because I know it takes for ever in NY. Is there any time line
available for the I-751 interview dates...I am already been waiting for over
a year, now do i have to wait for another year for an interview. sould i
get an info pass and go to federal plaza and ask them becaue that 800 number
is no help..??? ..please help...Thanks

Frank

Frank:

The only thing you could do my friend is just wait. There is no way to track when an I-751 interview will be scheduled.

No, waiting is not the only thing you can do. You can make an InfoPass appointment and go there and see what they have to say to you about your status. In fact you are probably going to have to go there to get another I-551 stamp in your passport so why not do both at the same time if you haven't gotten the stamp already.

Then there is the use of the immigration liaison from your local political rep's office. Find out who that is for the district where you live, look up their website and/or their number in the blue section of the phone book and ask them to make inquiries for you.

After waiting a year, there is no point in waiting much more without being proactively involved in getting someone attention at the NYC USCIS and getting this I-751 adjudicated.

The third thing you might want to consider is applying for naturalization. VSC acted quickly when my husband applied and we hadn't had the I-751 adjudicated at that point either. We finally got the approval of the I-751 three weeks before the naturalizaiton interview.

So there things you can do. Let us know how you make out.
