Default I-751 important question

Hi everyone,
It has been a long time since I have written to this group. I haven't
needed to because everything was going smoothly until just recently.
See my husband went to his country for a visit. This visit ended up
getting extended and the problem now is that he conditional residency
is about to expire. I checked on flights to come back and they are all
booked until after the date his card expires. We have filed to have
the conditional status lifted, but this was just recently so I have not
received confirmation of receipt. I hope to get it within the next week
or so. We filed with the VSC. I know their wait for approval is long,
but does anyone have any idea how long the wait is for confirmation?
And once we get confirmation, will he be able to reenter the country or
is he stuck there? Please help, I need all the advice I can get in
this matter. I am very worried that he will not be able to come back.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Sincerely,
Lili Rossi

No need to panic too much... his card may expire, his status doesn't. He is still a permanent resident. I'm sure others will also chime in on this.

Probably CIS officers at the airport will be able to see his status in their system and he should be fine.

I agree with Ian. Also, recently, there was another thread regarding returning with an expired GC, and mention was made of obtaining a Return Letter or some such item, from the Consulate to present to the airlines and also the POE officer.

Best Wishes,
Rene

Perhaps a day or two may be a little different than the case I am aware of, but if he needs to board in a foreign country, sometimes the gate agents will not board a passenger without current documentation

Hi:

What makes you think he won't be able to come back? Just curious. You don't say.
