I-751 filing - how close need it be to 90 days?

Hi;
My wife got her adjustment of status about 1 1/2 years ago and I guess the next step
is to file the I-751 to lift the conditional status. I looked through the FAQ to see
when I need to do this and it says ninety days before the two year period after
receiving the AOS. Well, is that exactly 90 days? What is the acceptable range there,
really? When we had our interview 1 1/2 years ago I vaguely remember the INS guy
saying that we should prepare something 6 months before the end of the two year
period. Any thoughts or advice about this? Should I get a lawyer to help me handle
this stage?
Thanks,
Tim

You file for removal any time WITHIN 90 days of the expiration date on her card. Not
before that, count the days to BE SURE you are not submitting sooner than that,
elsewise they will return your application.

Not just thoughts but facts, if received before the 90 day window it will be
returned to you.

Tim, I just filed our I-751 and the National INS service Agent told me to file it as
close to the 90 day deadline but not before the 90 days or they will send it
back....I sent it 85 days before my wifes PC card expired...
Good luck... David

It's UP to 90 days before the two years are up - so, technically, they could receive
it the day before the anniversary of the AOS and it would be fine. Most people prefer
to send it earlier to get a little leeway, but just be SURE you don't send it *more*
than 90 days ahead of time.
